Feast Day of Maria de Guadulupe

The Sacred Heart of Maria de Guadulupe
here, today
on her feast day
after having shared,
travelled together,
listened to each other's stories,
visited one another's home
even though miles across the seas.
thank you to each one who visited
and left encouragement;
and to each one who shared
a piece of your heart

it all started with Rebecca

This page and this post today is dedicated to
Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe,
Our Lady of Guadulupe
The Perfect Virgin, Mary of Guadulupe

Holy Night

Your Holy Light
Shines on the deserted plains of my being

You carry the lamp
That hushes my heart

As a babe in arms I become
When I hear your voice of sincerity

The Holy night answers
In silent reverence
As It witness the
Star of Love born

Returning love to my eyes
A miracle I behold
My soul is filled
With flowers of mercy,
Compassion and tenderness
Surrounded by your sacred heart.

May we meet soon again

Day Ten of Share a Virgin a Day

She dances within me
Her strength moves my feet
She dances through me
Her power fills my speech
She dances with me
Her love embraces my heart

Sweet, sweet mother
I taste your fragrant compassion
I disappear into your eternal embrace

Your eternal love calls me
Your infinite being steers me
Your endless presence guides me into
My deepest heart.

Heart of hearts
Pierce my mind
Allow the light of Mercy
To shine on my ignorant self

Day Nine of Share a Virgin a Day

At Ngome in Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa
is the Marian site of miraculous healing.  The number of
healings at this river and sacred wells
are often compared to Lourdes
and it is indeed called the African Lourdes.

Our Lady of Ngome, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

Sister Reinolda had ten 'encounters' with Mary during lifetime
as a nun at the Catholic missionary at Ngome.

The first encounter took place on 22 August 1955 during the
Feast of The Immaculate Heart of Mary.

this is an extract from Sr Reinolda's journal :

Shortly after Holy Communion, Mary stood before me, very close-by. Everything was seen in spirit. I was drawn into another atmosphere. Mary showed Herself in a wonderful light more beautiful than the sun. She was robed all in white, flowing veil from top to toe. Upon Her Breast rested a big host surrounded by a brilliant corona radiating life. She was a living Monstrance.

Mary stood upon the globe, hands and feet invisible. I felt like entering a cloud, drawn by Mary, away from the earth. I had my eyes closed but I saw so much light that, for several days, I was very much dazzled by the beauty and light that I had seen.

Mary said the following:
“Call Me ‘Tabernacle of The Most High’.
You too are such a Tabernacle, believe it.

Day Eight of Mary a Day

Our Lady of the Dove - oil on canvas by Hettienne

Our ordinary lives are in fact sacred and it contains
everything that we have been searching for.
All the sages and mystics over time have always pointed this out with stories
and poetry. But very few ever believe them.

Often one seeks the sacred and the glorious in places other than
the present, ordinary humdrum of daily living.

Often the seeking is driven by a longing to escape the humdrum
of ordinary living; or one seeks in order to prevent disaster
from striking again or to prevent the painful feelings of loss, betrayal, rejection and
death.

But the truth of the matter is that discomfort, unhappiness, boredom, death,
dying, pain, cruelty, injustice and more is an intrinsic part of life.

The spiritual life does not exempt us from this. Living with devotion
and spiritual awareness and faith
does not mean that we no longer feel the pain of the world.

It is probably true to say that that the less self-centred we are,
the less self-absorbed and the less occupied with
our own selves , the greater our sensitivity, the greater
our empathy and our compassion

with others and with all living creatures
and the deeper
you feel the pain in the broken heart of the Mother.

But then it is also true that he deeper and more intense we feel,
the greater the call to add to the world in some way or another;
not for glory and fame, nor power and money,
but to add tenderness,

beauty, love and wisdom
in some form to this world.

“In the turmoil of our time, we are being called to a new order of reality. Working toward that consciousness, we suffer, but our suffering opens us to the wounds of the world and the love that can heal. It is our immediate task to relate to the emerging feminine whether she comes to us in dreams, in the loss of those we love, in body disease, or in ecological distress. Each of us in our own way is being brought face to face with Her challenge.”~Marion Woodman

Day Seven in the Pilgrimage of Marys

Forty days and forty nights,
she roams the desert plains.
Cloaked in tatters,
wearing her garment of grief,
lost in the wilderness of her mind.

Calling out, listening for a reply,
an echo to the walls of her heart.
Following the drumbeat
set by her feet.
Enslaved by its rhythm
always onward, forward.

Until she can no more!

She surrenders, gives in to exhaustion
willpower failing her
salt tears pooling mud
her love roots into the clay

Her bleeding heart blooms red
showers of petals set alight,
thorns sprouting a trailing vine,
paradise is found.

Sixth day of Pilgrimage of Mary

Marys everywhere you look
In 2006 I went on a pilgrimage to St Brigid
at Kildare, Ireland.
Living in a very Calvinistic South Africa,
I had only previously seen Mary statues
in the media and literature, and
occasionally in front of a local Roman-Catholic Church.

That is, until I visited Ireland!!

My friend and I became quite adept at taking
pictures of Mary whilst driving as statues of Mary appeared
next to highways,
 on traffic circles,
in the gardens of homes,
in front of pubs,
you name it!

I could not get enough!!

Since then I have been travelling the globe
on an on-going pilgrimage of Mary.

You may want to visit Rebecca

Fifth Day of Pilgrimage of Marys

You carry me
Nestled in the warmth
of your breast

Wings spread
Heart aflutter
Strength in fragility

Tiny bird bones
Carry and support
 with divine power

My heart grows wings
My throat clucks
My feathers shiver with joy
As love move through me

The sky turns red
Awash with Truth

I fly into Your pulsing Heart

My wings neither scorch
Nor do my feathers singe

I am Love
I am Love
I am the Dove
I am the Wings of Love

Fourth day of the pilgrimage of Mary

But now, at last, he seeks her.
He calls for her.
He knows the name of the Rose.
Exhausted and parched
in wretchedness,
she hears him call her name.
She stirs, raises her head, and looks around.
"Who speaks?"

Her heart beats faster.
"Can it be he?
Has he returned at last for me?"

The garden where he left her
is now a wasteland---
scarred, dried, and shriveled.
Trees are stunted,
streams of living water
only a trickle.
Thickets of thorn
surround the garden,
barring his way.
With the sword of truth
he must hack them to pieces
to reach his beloved.

At last he finds her,
still clasping her alabaster jar.
Her joyful tears fall at his feet.
A second time she dries them with her hair.
But now he reaches for her hand.
"Come, beloved; it is time.
Let us go together into the vineyard
to see if the vines are in bloom." (Cant. 7:13)

Hand in hand now,
they walk in the desert garden.
And where their feet tread
a violet springs up from the ground,
an anemone lifts its head.
In their wake
buds swell on barren bough.

"No longer will you be called 'forsaken'
and your lands 'desolate,'
but you shall be called 'beloved,'
and your lands 'espoused'" (Isa. 62:4)

He whispers her name,
savoring its taste
delighting in the Bride of his longing.
Mary...

Day Three of A Virgin a Day

Once again She arrives
moving ever so
lightly, like a bird
She precariously rests on my shoulder.

And so too, once again, the angel
stirs the waters of the well
and hidden worlds
are revealed
drapes of colour and light,
magical trees alive with
happiness
 hope and grace fluttering
their wings

the river of love, the sainted
amrita,
singing tree sap in my veins,

such is Her Grace.
